Long Island FBO Braces For U.S. Open

From Aviation International, April 04 issue

“We’re one of the best-kept secrets in the Southampton area,” said New York Jet corporate services manager Lindsay Durand. Founded as Mid Island Air Service in 1946 by World War II veteran Louis Mancuso. New York Jet began servicing corporate aircraft in 1987 at Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in Islip, N.Y. “Commitment to excellence is the backbone of New York Jet’s success,” said Durand. “Every customer who taxis onto our ramp is greeted by a CSR and a lineman.”

In addition to a flight school and fuel service, New York Jet recently resurfaced and strengthened its main ramp, and completely renovated the pilot lounge with satellite TV, Internet access, blankets and pillows, travel kits and snacks. New York Jet also recently rolled out its “Fly-In Dine-Out” program, giving pilots discounts at area restaurants. The FBO claims it charges the lowest fuel prices on the field and offers generous volume discounts, In addition, New York Jet is the only location at ISP to offer Avtrip reward points from fuel supplier Avfuel.

From June 17 to20, the business aviation masses will flock to Long Island for the 104th annual U.S. Open, held this year at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in nearby Southampton. Though Francis Gabreski Airport (FOK) is closer to the Shinnecock Hills link, Durand is confident that New York Jet can get VIP passengers in and out for the tournament more quickly and efficiently, with lower fuel prices and no landing or terminal fees.
